The Portsmouth Regional Hospital (PRH) Center for Rehabilitation and Wellness is open at 155 Borthwick Avenue. Down the street from the hospitals main campus, the center occupies 17,000-square feet in a new tower bringing together services previously housed in multiple locations. Along with its sports medicine, cardiac rehabilitation and day rehabilitation programs, it houses PRHs vestibular/dizziness, nutrition, massage therapy and pediatric rehabilitation services. Extensive conference rooms space is available for educational and support group activities. The 840-square foot gymnasium serves a variety of purposes, both therapeutic and wellness related. Classes offered range from traditional aerobics, yoga, and tai chi to Latin-rhythm Zumba dancing. The Day Rehabilitation Program is designed for patients who are able to live at home while recovering from neurological problems like stroke, head injury or multiple sclerosis. It draws a broad range of specialtiesneurology, physical and occupational therapy, speech language pathology, behavioral health and case management. Resources include a warm water pool for aquatic therapy. Also in the new center, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Program occupies 2,400-square feet allowing expanded fitness programming for patients dealing with cardiac, bariatric, diabetic and pulmonary fitness issues. Along with the walking track resources include weight training equipment, treadmill, elliptical and rowing machines. PRHs Hematology and Oncology Center and the Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology have been located in the complexs original tower at 155 Borthwick Avenue for more than a year.
